The College Admission Essay Workshop is LTWN’s eight-week program for seniors facing the daunting college application process. Through small classes led by seasoned essay coaches, students will learn to navigate endless requirements and deadlines. We'll show them how to highlight their strengths and present the best version of themselves. They will build robust and realistic college lists and learn how to avoid common application mistakes in all the written parts of the application. Our firm hands and sage advice will give order to your senior's chaotic final high school year.
Any senior could use a multipronged support system during the application process! This is especially true for students applying to target, reach, and ultra-reach schools and parents who don’t want to worry if their students are on track to complete everything by the deadline. This course will hold students accountable for making a plan and sticking to it. Instructors will also provide thoughtful and personalized feedback for their work, giving students the confidence that they are submitting the strongest application possible.
Students in the College Application Workshop will learn how to:
Students in the College Application Essay (CAE) Workshop meet weekly for 75-minutes over Zoom. We utilize Google Classroom, Kami, and our LTWN App to deliver mini-lessons and daily writing prompts. We offer this sixteen-week program in two modules and it is our recommendation that most students will need to take both modules to put together a strong overall application.
CAE 1 is an 8-week course focused on developing a personal statement (aka the main essay), activity list, and resume. There will be ample time for brainstorming and revision, providing students with a strong foundation for every application. The Personal Statement and Activity List will be used in almost every application that the student has on his/her list.
CAE 2 is an 8-week course focused on building a college list and writing supplemental essays. Students will also learn how to write scholarship essays as well as letters of continued interest. Students can expect to complete anywhere from six to twelve supplemental essays during the workshop along with a template for many more essays that they can write on their own.
CAE 1 is offered during the Summer and Fall Semesters while CAE 2 is only offered during the Fall Semester. Students can sign up for one or both courses. If your child would benefit from more personalized attention, consider signing them up for our Professional Development Service.
Students will leave these courses knowing they've done everything in their power to construct an application that will turn the heads of admissions committees. At LTWN, we help your child believe in their dreams and challenge themselves. We teach them to be brave under stress and to persist through difficulties. Through our College Application Essay Workshop, your child will get the support and encouragement needed to achieve and surpass their academic goals. The lessons they learn will serve them well beyond the CAE workshop.
And that’s just the beginning! LTWN always watches out for your child and supports parents and students along their academic journeys.
As the late and great Maya Angelou once said, “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” Here at LTWN, we hold Angelou’s words as a flame of truth. We are eager to see what your child can do today so that we may guide them to be their very best tomorrow.
